The prompt for day 9, found here, was not really my cup of tea. It was instrumental music. While it was nice, all it did for me was make me a little drowsy. However, the picture below was also on the page with the prompt so I decided to write a 50 word story based on it.
The Party
“The invitation stated ‘Come as you are,’” Gabriel declared drunkenly.
“Yes sir,” the attendant replied, his eyes lowered.
“Why then am I the only one showing my wings?”
“You’re the only one with wings sir.”
“You mean to tell me I’ve been consorting with humans all this time? How embarrassing.”
The person who wrote the prompt also said if the music didn’t inspire we should find another instrumental piece that works for us. Unfortunately the instrumentals I like the best are in various soundtracks and tend to invoke movie scenes for me. I’ve certainly been inspired by music though. The problem is I listen to hard rock mostly. I figured that was not what the prompt writer had in mind.
One could go crazy trying to revise a 50 word story so this one is staying exactly the way it is now.
50 words.
I used to use music of all types to help focus my creative thoughts. These days, I don’t use it as much because I find that I focus more on jamming out to the tunes than the story. Still, it can be a useful way to get into a particular mood. Great article, thanks. 🙂

I tend to use the lyrics of a song rather than the music. However, I have been known to use just an instrumental piece. I gave this one a good try anyway 🙂
by the way, you could have used this one by Everclear… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVGaUrHGkQU for a kind of rock vibe, or of course anything by Apocalyptica. Though I am not sure he would’ve been expecting that approach 🙂

I actually really enjoy this piece, though it is short, it is also sweet. Shows that humans and angels are not so different, or maybe he just didn’t notice they were human because he was drunk. You can also tell that the humans feel comfortable enough towards the angel to consort rather than feel fear of the difference.

Non-writers don’t realize how difficult it is to make something imaginative and engaging in as few words as possible.

Funny. And not a word out of place.
